2020 Income Requirements for Mexico Temporary & Permanent Residency Visas

Mexican Consulates abroad and Immigration offices in Mexico continue to use the national Minimum Salary as the reference when calculating “economic solvency” qualification criteria for residency in Mexico. Using this criteria, the 2020 income requirements for temporary and permanent Mexico Visas are as follows:

Temporary Residency

foreign income over the past six months of at least 300 days’ worth of the Mexico minimum wage. Based on 19 pesos to one US Dollar this would be an approximate monthly income of $1,945.

Or

Have a savings balance over the past twelve months equivalent to 5,000 days’ worth of the Mexico minimum wage. This would calculate to a savings of approximately $32,400.

Permanent Residency

foreign income over the past six months of at least 500 days’ worth of the Mexico minimum wage. Based on 19 pesos to one Us Dollar is approximately a monthly income of $3,250.

Or

Have a savings balance over the past twelve months equivalent to 20,000 days’ worth of the Mexico minimum wage. This would calculate to a savings of approximately $130,000.

Married couples: If you’re applying for residency as a married couple, you must show an additional 100 days’ minimum wage (approximately US$650) for the dependent spouse, both in monthly income and savings categories.
